How entering works
- Sign up on the PM.finance contest page.
- Once you have signed up, the entry panel shows a HyperPM entry: click "Go to HyperPM".
- On HyperPM, join the season, write a strategy, save it as a version, and submit it to the contest.
- Submitting takes you back to the PM.finance entry panel, which says your strategy from HyperPM has been brought back and asks you to confirm the binding below: click "Confirm binding" to finish entering. Do it before the binding deadline shown on the entry panel, or you cannot compete; until then you can bind again.
- The prescreening result then shows below on the entry panel; once the contest starts, each day's result reaches the leaderboard the next day.
Join a season
- New users: sign up through the link from the contest; the season code is filled in, and the new account joins the season.
- Existing accounts: open the contest link while signed in; instead of a new account, the page offers "Add this contest to my signed-in account". You can also paste a season code at the bottom of the "Settings → Contests" card.
- If this account is already linked to another registration in this season, it cannot be bound to a new one: sign out and sign in with the account of the original registration, or sign up a new account.
- When a season is full or no longer takes submissions, its link can neither create a new account nor add the season to an existing one.
Submit a version
Open the "Strategies" library, click the strategy to open its page, and click "Submit to contest" on a version card under "Versions" on the left. After "Save as version" in a conversation, the board also shows "Submit to contest →", which opens that version's strategy page.
In the panel that opens:
- Choose the track: "Arbitrage", "Market neutral" or "Other"; a long-only season (spot) has one track, the only one the panel lists. No track is listed before the season's terms are back, and with several tracks none is picked for you: pick one to submit. When several seasons are open for submissions, first pick the season in the menu; with only one, its name is shown.
- The platform first checks that the backtest can enter: exchange data, a market the season takes (most seasons take perpetual contracts only; a season may also take spot), a bar size and symbols the season allows and paper trading supports, leverage within the cap, a saved version with a successful backtest, no feature tables or code factors, and no temporary parameters. Temporary parameters come from changing values on the "Params" tab and clicking "Run backtest with these params"; save them as a new version first and backtest that version. If something fails, the reason is shown, one at a time; fix it and check again for the next.
- When the check passes, click "Submit and go to the contest platform", then "Confirm binding" back on the PM.finance entry panel. The link back to PM.finance works for 10 minutes; if it expires, submit again from HyperPM.
Submissions per day are limited, counted by UTC day.
After submitting, the platform opens a preview contest account for it (not the official one; it becomes official when the contest platform locks it) and runs a prescreening backtest (visible in your runs).
Submitting again in the same season replaces the last submission the contest platform has not yet confirmed, and the old preview account is archived.
Status and limits
The "Settings → Contests" card lists each season you joined: its state (registering / running / finished), deadline and contest dates (Singapore time), submissions, and the state of your contest account (for example waiting for the contest platform to confirm, preview account running, locked, official account running).
Strategies and versions in a contest carry the season's tag, and their page header shows "In contest". Some limits:
- Strategies and versions still used by a submission in this season cannot be archived or deleted before the season settles; a version replaced by a newer submission is no longer held by this limit.
- Contest accounts are run by the contest platform; in paper trading you can only view them.
- Contest accounts do not count toward your paper accounts and are not charged points.
